Cardiologist
Someone working in this career is capable of diagnosing and treating specific diseases and conditions that are related to the cardiovascular system. There are numerous types of cardiology that you can specialize in. To become a cardiologist, you must go through the process of earning a Bachelor's Degree (taking classes in inorganic chemistry, physics, biology, and organic chemistry is a must). After this, you then have to graduate from medical school, earn a medical license, complete a residency in internal medicine, and then lastly, you must complete a fellowship in cardiology.
Cardio Perfusionist
This is an allied health career, and someone working this job is not a doctor or a nurse. A cardio perfusionist is someone that works the heart lung machine, which is what keeps the patient's blood pumping while they are undergoing open-heart surgery. If you are interested in this career, you must obtain a Bachelor's degree. Then there is a special training program that requires the student to perform a minimum of 150 procedures before they can successfully complete the course. After the course has been completed, they must then pass an exam which allows them to become a Certified Clinical Perfusionist.
Cardiovascular Technician
Someone with this career gets to use imaging technology to help diagnose cardiac diseases in patients. These technicians also have the ability to treat certain problems relating to cardiac and vascular systems. It is required that an individual gets their Associate's degree to be eligible for this career.
